Today I turned on Radio 2. ‘Pause for thought’ was on and Rev Ruth was talking about Steve Chalk’s decision to back Gay Marriage (http://www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2013/18-january/news/uk/steve-chalke-backs-gay-relationships).

This is a hot topic in Christian Communities right now.

Rev Ruth said he was brave to explore and challenge his Christian beliefs. To some extent I agree. She has a point. How many church goers do you know who only enter a church with their heads covered? or where women are not allowed to lead worship or speak? There are aspects of the Bible that are not black and white but relate to cultural beliefs of the time. However there are also fundamental aspects that should not be compromised. The reason (I believe) that no one takes Christianity seriously these days is due to the fact that as a body we appear to compromise all the time.
