‘We were Warriors on the Front Lines’

So Courageous – Verse 2…

The words say or sing:

‘We were warriors on the front lines

Standing, unafraid

But now we’re watchers on the sidelines

While our families slip away’

So this starts with ‘warriors’. As Christians we are warriors. But our fight is not against flesh and blood. We are not fighting against people who don’t believe what we believe. Our fight is spiritual. Against the forces of darkness. Don’t fight against people! Fight united with people.
We are fighting with powers of sin and evil and to be honest these days we are starting to fight back. We are on the front lines. Best place to fight the battle. I think that now is what we need to be aware of. We want to get back to being on the front lines. ‘Were’ is in the past. But we aren’t in the past. What a change could happen in this land, nation, world, if we got back on the front lines!

Next line – ‘Standing, unafraid’. I study English so it may just be me but there is something significant about the fact that the line stands alone. Here’s a key point; ‘Standing’. We are supposed to stand and fight. Not sit around, drink tea, eat crackers and cheese and do nothing. No we are called to stand. That’s an action. If we are standing we can run into battle and we are prepared to defend our ground. A Daily Battle if you think about it!

It says to ‘Stand unafraid’. Not only do we need to stand. But unafraid! We don’t need to be afraid.

If our God is for us, then who can be against us’.

We can have confidence that God is for us and that with him we can stand unafraid.

1 John 4:18

‘There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We don’t need to fear, because God has perfect love for us.

I don’t know about you but I don’t want to be a watcher on the sidelines. I want to be on the front line, fighting for the God I love.

This is a battle not only of offence but defence. In this battle we want to attack the enemy and defend our family. Don’t let our families slip away. Defend them with the truth.

So my questions to you – Are you going to fight? Are you going to be a warrior? Are you going to Stand? Will you stand unafraid? Are you a watcher on the sidelines? Do you want to be ‘standing on the sidelines’? Do you want your family to slip away?
